Agree 100%
As a Flyers fan, I was thrilled to see Carcillo go and won't miss Rinaldo when he goes as well.

I agree as a Flyers fan. I had hope for Rinaldo. He seemed like he finally had gotten it this season until the Buffalo game. No team needs players like Carcillo or Rinaldo especially in the playoffs.

I have no problem seeing Carcillo suspended, well deserved and is a useless player anyways! it might hurry up the return of Brassard...
But as you put it yourself: "I just hope the League does the right thing", I hope they ALSO review Prust's hit as it should deserve a game or 2. It was clear he was head hunting last night and the refs just let him go...

I had hope for Rinaldo, too. I thought he had made a huge improvement between his rookie year and the lockout-shortened season. He was drawing penalties regularly, had cut out the reckless act, and his play was up. Unfortunately, his performance this past year was very retrograde, and he is back to liability mode.

Lunacy... You just can't do that, I think a 3 game suspension is right for this incident (in a bubble) but I could see 10 based on his history and penchant to do it again.

Paul, do your think the linesman needed to be as aggressive with Carcillo as he was? It seemed like he could have diffused the situation with a less aggressive approach.

If it was someone else without Carcillo's rep, maybe but you never with this guy, he could have pulled out a chainsaw, an axe or even an AK47, linesman didn't want to take a chance.

Can someone please explain what the hell Carcillo did that was so terrible? The linesman grabs him for no reason, he pushes back a little, and now he's suspended for 10 games? Where is this "physical abuse"?

he did nothing deserving of a suspension, the league is a (frank)ing joke

League deemed it a category 2 (a more serious offense) instead of category 3 (trying to get free during an altercation on the ice). A category 2 is a 10 gamer.

He deliberately gave two forearms and then an elbow to the lineseman. Not even Vigneault attempted to condone or defend it. Clear cut.

It definitely is clear cut by the rules, which makes the inconsistency with suspensions in other instances more upsetting. This is automatically 10 games. Ok, yet Weber slamming Zetterberg's head into the glass is a fine? All these hits to the head, or from behind are worth 2-4 games? It's a joke. I'm all for sending a clear cut message that physical altercations with the stripes is 100% unacceptable, but they should be sending the same message about head shots and hits from behind as well.

agree, they need to slap massive suspensions on intent to injure plays

While Carcillo has given many reasons to be disliked in this case its all the officials fault all stemming from horrible judgment! If you watch the video of hit on YouTube for the suspension video you will see 3 officials in the video ALL looking directly at the play and the hit! Horrible on Driscolls part not to call it but what do you expect he is from Canada! Ref should not have grabbed Carcillo or his stick! Ref should have told Carcillo about a penalty he didn't! This was a horrible job by all the officials, the NHL is becoming so bush league its not even funny.

Not a fan of Carrillo or nyr but I bet an official will be held accountable on the ice for their consistent inconsistency. It is obvious that the leaugue is doing nothing to make the refs better and their decision making decides games all the time. They are constantly changing the standards and as a player it has got to be unbearable.

I think refs and leauge should wake up and get out of their glass castles. One of them will get it and it will be overdue in many respects. I never really liked AV but his statements are correct. The original hit should have been called as the rest is collateral damage. Luckily NYR has sather and not bowness to make sure the tough guys keep getting ice time.
